Contemporary Burmese Art: Ideas and Ideals
Co-sponsored with the Interfaith Center of New York
This event provides a unique opportunity for the Burmese artistic community to show the full range of their work. Emphasis is upon contemporary Burmese art as it is happening now and its diverse manifestations—spiritual, political and cultural. Fifteen Burmese artists will display their painting, photography, sculpture, performance and video art, and documentary films. The evening includes a presentation about Burmese art by artist Aung Kyaw Moe and discussion with many of the artists.
The artists in the exhibit include: Win Pe (Mary Land), Paw Thame (Texas), Aung Kyaw Moe (NY), Win Tun (Mr. Burma) (NJ), Maung Maung Aung (NY), Min Kyaw Khine (DC), Myo Thein Tun (NY), Min Aung Ni (NY), Ko Myo (NY), Kyaing Lin Naing (NY), Than Htay Maung (Pittsburgh), Mg Kyi Myint (NY), Min Thant (Gregory Tong) (NY), Aung Moe Win (NY) and Chaw Ei Thein.
